Fun Engagement Session
In the past, the reason for having your engagement portrait professionally made was to put it in the paper for your parents friends and relatives to see. Times have definitely changed, so has the typical type of portrait you would have made. Engagement portraits are the start of Family history, let them show your interests, your personalities and perhaps how you met.
In addition to the history of it all, they make great art for the walls of your first home.

Newest Product
On display on our studio wall is our newest example of our Collages and Splits. This design is called Modern. It comes with 5 seperate panels ready to hang. Each panel has a block on the back that "floats" the panel off the wall 1/2 an inch.
These panels are lightweight, reguire only a pushpin to be hung on, are available in many finishes and textures including canvas, metal and photo paper in matt or gloss finish. They can be hung in any pattern that you wish. Because it uses a pushpin for mounting you can change up the pattern as often as you like.

Senior Portraits
Summer is here and to those whose last year of High School is ahead of them, this is the season to have your Senior Portrait's done.
We all know the school has arranged a "school photographer" to come to the school and do these for you, and, it is a requirement because one of these images will go into the year book.
However, you are not required to purchase any of these images. Because of the quanity of students they have to shoot in a limited time, you will have very limited choices and your personality will not necessarily be reflected in these images.
We however, do an individual consultation to customize a session that reflects your personality, hobbies and interests.
The basic session starts at $200. This will include $150 in portraits.
Call 336-861-1988 or Text 336-688-1216
for more info.

Softball/Baseball season
If your children are playing softball or baseball its probably because you played it to as you grew up.
These traditions we pass on to our children. Do you have portraits of these days that you can share with your kids? I know I don't, but I wish I did. I know my parents wish they could relive those days with portraits.
A part of these childhood traditions comes the strange ritual of "picture day". Posing in those awkward poses and forced to say "cheese or homerun". These pictures are good to have have for sure. But, they end up in the drawer don't they?
How about something that you will cherish as art, hang on the wall, make creative displays and even start a "watch me grow" album with some of these images that show a part of your son or daughter's journey through childhood?
In addition to a the standdard portrait session at the local ballfield. I can even be commisioned to come to one of the games and do professional level "game day action shots" as well. Give me a call to make plans to preserve these Sports Memories.

Executive Portraits
Often times we get the honor of creating a portrait of an individual that is being recognized for distinguished service, advancement, or many other reasons that merit them being memorialized.
I personally relish this opportunity to capture a persons character, history and personality all in a portrait that will be looked upon and admired for generations to come.

Cool new stuff!
We are constantly finding new ways for you to show off your beautiful kids, family or pets. This is Stacy's new baby boy Eli. This portrait is made as a "SofttopThin Wrap" with a satin finish (no glare). It can be hung on the wall with the provided mounting block so that it has that "float" look or set on a table top easel as you see here. I think it's a fantastic look. Cute babies help a lot!

Toddlers are such fun!
This is my favorite age for portraits to be sure! Playing games, dressing up and just being silly.
The results are always worth the effort to get that smile that just lights up your world.
No matter what mood I am in, after a session with kids this age I have a smile thats lasts the whole day!

First Pet Model
Thanks so much to all my loyal customers who responded to the Model Search for my new venture Whiskertales Pet Portraits. This is Amy Tucker's Mr Whiskers.
Cats have such beautiful eyes and are so graceful.
I am looking forward to this weekend. Whiskertales has filled all of our spots for Saturday, 11 in total, all dogs. I need 1 or 2 more Feline models to round out our portfolio. We will do these at your home.
We will soon be updating our studio walls with beautiful "Pet Portrait Art".
Also, fantastic albums, Boxed Collections and Totes and accessories with your "furry family members" portrait on them.
Click the "follow" button in the upper left of this screen to be notified by email when a new blog is posted. I will soon be giving away "goodies" only offered in our blog.

Timeless Classics
I do enjoy shooting portraits outdoors in Gods creation, however, winter forces us inside. That does not mean creativity is gone. I fall back on time tested classical lighting and posing techniques inspired from the great portrait artist such as Rembrandt and John Singer Sargent. To create, what I feel, will be priceless to the parents of our subjects.
With these techniques as a starting point we can complete that "Painted Portrait" experience with our Virtrual Oil Portraits.
I will be sending out in our e-newsletter info about our Painted Portrait Event. Save $320 on a 16x20 Virtual Oil.
If you dont get our e-newsletter sign up at http://www.kensykesphoto.com/ At the bottom you will see the link to sign up.

New old fashioned b&w
The darkroom was a wonderous place many years ago. Now, its a "desktop darkroom". Even better. no smelly chemicals, bumping your head on things you can't see and of course waiting to see the results are gone.
I use labs for some of my customers prints, however our Fine Art B&W prints are still custom printed in house by me. That is the only way to get the results that have the look and feel of fiber based b&w and sepia tone prints from masters such as Ansel Adams. We use cotton based papers with dyes that give more depth, tonality and richness.
Check out our samples and see for yourself.

Free Art
It was a foggy Fall morning, I was on my way to another In the Leaves portrait session. My coffee had not yet kicked in. I looked out the window to a field that I appreciate everyday. But, this morning it stopped me in my tracks! I quickly did an illegal u-turn. The dismayed driver behind me gave my the hand symbol for "have a nice day"!
I grabbed my camera and after 20 or so exposures got the image you see above. Two minutes later the sun made its presence known, the fog was gone and so was the moment.
Right click on the image and save to your desktop. Its FREE. Use it as your screen saver or print it. Whatever you like. I do ask that you not crop out or remove my logo. The original is an odd size, 8"x16" at 250 dpi. To BIG for the Blog. For the full size image drop me an email to kensykesphoto@northstate.net and type FREE full size Horse portrait, I will email it back to you. If you need professional help in printing take or send the file to High Point Photo or Snow Digital Lab. Tell them Ken Sykes sent you.
Happy New Year.
See our website http://www.kensykesphoto.com/ we have updated the dates and photos for our 2011 promotions.
God Bless
